1. What does MCX stand for?
MCX stands for Marketplace Christians Xchange.
2. What is the purpose of MCX?
MCX is about identifying people who love Jesus and who are doing something about it in the marketplace. It is about building relationships and harnessing these relationships to encourage one another, to pray together, to share resources and experience and to tell people in the marketplace about Jesus and disciple them on what He can do in their lives.
To do that, we plan to first start to connect Christian leaders in the marketplace. A marketplace leader is someone who desires to see evangelism, discipleship, prayer practiced in the marketplace. Living a life for Christ in the office, he sees himself as an agent of change for the glory and the purposes of God.
3. What is the MCX Portal for? Is it just like any social networking site?
The MCX portal provides a platform for Xchangers (i.e. our registered users) to communicate and engage in other relational activities on-line. Nevertheless, it is not meant to substitute the physical interaction needed in a Christian fellowship. In other words, our vision is that the portal users will move beyond the virtual world to establish strong relationships in the physical realm.
While the MCX Portal may bear similarity to current social networking sites, it provides a dedicated and secure environment for Christian users to share and connect with one another beyond the traditional church boundaries.
4. What are the governing rules of the MCX Portal?
The MCX Executive Committee requests that Xchangers interact with one another with a culture of respect and honour. Xchangers should also make sure that information shared is biblically sound.
On our part, MCX will do our utmost to ensure that exchange of information is treated with the strictest confidence. While we will help to ensure that posted content is in accordance to our posted doctrinal statements, we will not attempt to influence and guide the discussion forums and postings towards any particular school of interpretation or theology.
5. How can I sign up to use the MCX Community?
You can visit the MCX Community as a Visitor without registration. However, there would only be limited interactivity. To interact with the rest of the Xchangers, you will have to sign up using the online registration form.
To complete a registration you will need a sponsor (a ExCo, GenCo or Xchanger) and his/her email. if not, you can contact us.
After submission a user name and password will be sent to you, subject to verification.
6. I keep hearing a reference to Exco and Genco. What are you referring to?
MCX is operationally headed by an EXCO currently comprising of 7 dedicated marketplace leaders who are either leading a small Christian group in the marketplace or are actively involved in marketplace ministry in the para-church movements. Although the EXCO members come from different churches and work in different offices around Singapore, they have a common vision to connect Christians in the marketplace.
The GENCO helps with the implementation of the vision of MCX. There will ultimately be four basic roles and responsibilities of the GENCO:
- Connectors & Track Builders
- Station Masters
- Grand Central Station Data Managers
- Engineering & Security – Intercessors & Prayer Warriors
7. How can I be more involved with MCX?
You can be involved as an Xchanger and use the MCX platform to connect, exchange ideas and information, and to encourage and affirm other marketplace leaders.
In addition to being an Xchanger, you may wish to join the Genco as Connectors & Track Builders, Station Masters, Grand Central Station Data Managers or Intercessors & Prayer Warriors. For more elaboration on the roles in Genco, please click here
As can been seen, the roles are not mutually exclusive. For example, you may choose to be an Xchanger and volunteer as a Connector and Track Builder, or an Xchanger and a Station-master, or even all three! Alternatively, you can choose to remain an Xchanger, and not be part of the Genco at all.
8. I’m not leading a marketplace Christian group/ministry at the moment, can I still sign up as an Xchanger?
Yes, we welcome any Christian who resonates with the vision and mission of MCX to sign up as an Xchanger, even if he/she is not currently leading a marketplace Christian group/ministry. MCX’s plan is to first start to connect Christian leaders in the marketplace. This would include both leaders of existing groups, and also those who are actively living out their faith at work, and who desire to be an agent of change for the Glory and purposes of God in the marketplace. The longer term objective is to see a connected community of Christians in the marketplace.”
9. Is MCX affiliated with any organizations?
MCX is affiliated with Singapore Campus Crusade for Christ (SCCC).
